We are a small group of volunteer hawk watchers, and your donations are welcome and needed to support our efforts at Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch. Our hawk watch requires some financial support to cover various costs including: 1) materials for counters (notebooks, data sheets, portable weather stations, hand-clickers, etc.), 2) printing of educational materials for visitors (hawk watch brochure, raptor ID tools, etc.), 3) hosting and maintenance of our website, 4) signs, 5) educational banners, flags, or posters, and 6) conducting our annual Open House (food, drinks, educational displays, etc.).
Our counters provide their own optics, but we always welcome donations of any unwanted optics (binoculars or spotting scopes) to have on hand for visitors to use. We often have visitors show up with no binoculars only to find out that the hawks are too far away to see with the naked eye and wished that they had binoculars.
